# What your customer sees

> The homeowner's view of a published proposal, from first click to signed and paid

## The homeowner's side of your proposal

When you [publish a proposal](/features/publishing-your-proposal) and send it, each signer gets a private link: no account, login, or app, on any device. The homeowner reads, picks options, watches the price update, signs, and pays the deposit on one live page. Anyone else on the email (a non-signer To address or a CC) gets a view-only copy that can't sign.

### 1. The proposal page

The page opens on a cover: project title, property address, your cover photo, and your company name, logo, and phone from your [Business Profile](/features/business-profile). Sections follow your [proposal layout](/features/proposal-layouts) order — intro letter, photo galleries, estimate, add-ons, and custom sections.

* **Photo galleries** show descriptions as saved into that proposal version — see [Photo descriptions](/features/photo-descriptions).
* **Videos** play on the web link but are never included in PDF exports.
* **Insurance proposals** add claim information, building codes, and the insurance estimate, and are read-only — no cart, signing, or payment.

### 2. Estimates and add-ons — the cart

On retail proposals a cart sits alongside the page (at the bottom on a phone):

* **Estimate options** — the homeowner selects one; if you enabled multiple selections, they can pick several and the cart sums them.
* **Add-ons** — each can be selected or deselected and appears as its own cart line.
* **Total Investment** — totals the selection live. Every change syncs to XBuild immediately and recalculates the deposit line.

The homeowner chooses from what you published and can't edit scope; to change it, [edit the proposal](/features/editing-estimates-and-proposals) and publish a new version.

### 3. Monthly financing display

If financing is enabled in **Settings → Pricing & Profit** and the selected total meets your **Minimum Amount**, the cart shows a "per month for N months" line under the total, computed from your **APR** and **Term (months)** and moving with selections. It always carries the disclaimer "Monthly rates pending approval" — XBuild displays the estimate; it doesn't originate loans or approve borrowers. Below the minimum, or with financing off, no figure appears. Setup: [Pricing and profit](/features/pricing-and-profit).

### 4. Sign, accept, and pay

Below the total sit the deposit due (when required) and a signature block addressed to the link's owner — "Jane Doe, sign here." The homeowner types their full name, recording agreement to the selected estimate on your terms, then clicks one button:

| Button | When | What happens |
| ---------------------- | ---------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Proceed to Payment** | Deposit required | Secure card checkout for the deposit amount, "Secured by Stripe"; money routes to your connected account — see [Deposits and getting paid](/features/deposits-and-getting-paid) |
| **Accept Proposal** | No deposit | Accepts and signs in one step |

Either way they land on a confirmation screen — "Proposal Accepted!" or "Payment Successful!" — and confirmation emails go to them and to you.

With more than one homeowner signer, each sees an **Also signing** list under their block with the others' names and statuses. The first to sign lands on a "Signature Received!" screen saying how many signatures are still needed; the deposit checkout belongs to whoever signs last. Signer rules and company countersignatures: [E-signatures and authorization](/features/e-signatures-and-authorization).

### 5. Signing in person on your device

**Sign in person** opens the same page on your device, addressed to the next homeowner still owed a signature, with two differences: every signer is listed under **Signatures** with a **Signing now** tag ("Tap a name to sign as them" passes the device in any order), and no card checkout opens on your device — the confirmation screen says where the payment request is going, and the customer pays later from their own link. Rules: [E-signatures and authorization](/features/e-signatures-and-authorization).

### 6. You can see when it's viewed

XBuild records the first time a homeowner opens their link: the project's stage moves to **Viewed** (in your projects list and pipeline, alongside Sent and Signed) and the proposal's sender gets an email at that moment. Opening it yourself with **View proposal** or **Sign in person** never counts.

### 7. Troubleshooting common issues

* **The spouse got the email but can't sign.** Only signers get a signing link; everyone else gets a view-only copy. Add them as a signer ([E-signatures and authorization](/features/e-signatures-and-authorization)) and re-send so they get their own link.
* **The monthly financing line isn't showing.** In **Settings → Pricing & Profit**, check that financing is enabled, APR and term are filled in, and the selected total meets your **Minimum Amount** — the line hides whenever the running total drops below it.
* **The homeowner changed selections — which price am I on the hook for?** Selections and the deposit sync in real time; what they sign is the selection state at that moment.
* **My customer can't select anything.** Selections lock once any homeowner has signed — the second signer on a two-owner proposal signs the same priced scope as the first. Counter-signers and view-only recipients can't edit selections; insurance links never have a cart.
* **The customer sees the old proposal, or the page won't load.** Each publish generates the link for that version — re-send so they have the latest, and confirm you sent the currently published version's link. Links never ask for an account or login.
