# Mobile app overview

> What the XBuild mobile app does and how it fits with the web app

## Working with the XBuild mobile app

The XBuild mobile app puts capture and estimating on your phone. Every job is a **project** with its own page — proposals, album, documents, checklists. Photograph the site and XBuild scans each photo for damage, materials, and components; describe the job in the project's chat and get a line-itemed estimate and proposal on site.

### 1. The main areas

Open the drawer — the menu icon, or swipe from the left.

* **Home** — **Start a new project**, **Create an estimate**, **Nearby projects**, **Recent projects**, and on select plans **My tasks**. Floating **Capture** and **+** buttons also start a project.
* **Projects** — every job; tap one to open its page.
* **Contacts** — customer directory; a project's attached contact shows in its client details.
* **Dashboard** — team activity and results (select plans).
* **Team** — teammates and roles.
* **Billing** — plan and token balance.
* **Settings** — notification preferences, connectors, account.

The pencil beside **Home** also starts a project. At the drawer's bottom: **token usage**, the **company selector** ([Locations](/features/locations) — everything files under the selected one), and the **Activity** inbox (tray icon, unread badge, comments and @mentions). A drawer showing **Chat** instead of **Home** hasn't moved to the project page yet — contact XBuild Support.

### 2. Starting a project

Every project starts from the **New project** sheet (Home, **Capture**, **+**, or the pencil): a blank form needing only the client's name, or **Import from Connectors** — prefilled from a CRM job, QuickBooks customer, or CompanyCam project. **Create an estimate** on Home opens the same sheet, then the chat. See [Getting started](/mobile-app/getting-started) and [Projects overview](/platform/projects-overview).

### 3. The project page

Header: **Back**, a **⋯** menu (**Rename project**, **Delete project**), and the team activity thread; tap the title, address, or description to edit. Pills: **AI Estimator** (chat), **Upload** (library photos and videos, camera, PDF documents), **Connect** (link a connector). A floating **Capture** button opens the camera. Tabs:

* **Files** — **Proposals** (with versions), **Checklists**, **Album**, **Documents**.
* **Details** — **Project details** (description, status), **Client details**.
* **Claim details** — insurance only: claim and policy details, claim activity, invoices.
* **Connectors** — every connector, linked ones first.

Select plans add a pipeline **stage** bar (tap to move stages) and open tasks ([Pipeline stages](/platform/pipeline-stages), [Tasks](/platform/tasks)). Checklists run from the project page or the camera ([Running a checklist](/features/running-a-checklist)). Next: [Capturing photos and video](/mobile-app/capturing-photos-and-video), [Estimating and publishing](/mobile-app/estimating-and-publishing).

### 4. How it works with the web app

Free, one account with the web, no export step: photos appear on the web as they upload, proposal versions show on both, comments land in your Activity inbox. Photos save to your phone instantly and upload in the background ([Offline and syncing](/mobile-app/offline-and-syncing)). Phone for camera, voice notes, quick estimates, push; web for long edits and admin.

You'll need an XBuild account (sign in, or create one in the app), camera and microphone permissions — location is optional and powers **Nearby projects** and the photo location stamp — and tokens, which scanning and estimating consume ([How tokens work](/plans-billing/how-tokens-work)).
