# Act with Rex

> Use Ask and Apply modes, review approval cards, and confirm the result of every action.

## Two modes

Rex has two modes, **Ask** and **Apply**.

* **Ask:** questions and reading work normally. Rex waits for your confirmation before any change.
* **Apply:** Rex can make internal XBuild changes your company allows without asking each time. Changes your company's policy requires you to confirm, and every external action, such as sending an email, still need your confirmation. Administrators set company policy; you confirm actions you're already allowed to take, and confirming doesn't grant extra access.

Apply can't override your permissions, company policy, features your plan doesn't include, or a read-only conversation. If you switch to Apply while actions are pending, XBuild asks you to confirm with **Apply changes allowed by company policy**.

## Approval cards

When Rex needs confirmation, it shows an approval card listing the proposed changes. You can **Approve**, **Deny**, or add a comment asking Rex to revise. A revised proposal comes back as pending, so you can review it before anything is applied.

## Email drafts

For email, Rex shows a draft card with an editable body and attachments. Nothing is sent until you click **Send**. Check recipients and attachments first. If you're following up with an adjuster on a claim submitted to the supplement service, read Claim activity before sending; see the [insurance supplement flow](/features/insurance-supplement-flow).

## Confirm the result

A card or a message saying an action is done is not proof the action completed. After approving:

1. Open the affected record and check the change is there.
2. For email, confirm it appears where your sent mail is recorded.
3. If the outcome is uncertain, don't repeat a send or payment. Contact XBuild Support with the conversation so the team can check.

## Limits worth knowing

* Rex acts with your access. It can't do what your role can't; see [Members and roles](/features/members-and-roles).
* Changes to XBuild records respect your plan's features; see [Plan comparison](/plans-billing/plan-comparison).
* What Rex may read or change in each connected tool is set in [Rex permissions](/rex/permissions).
* Rex doesn't replace review. Proposals, invoices, and anything sent to a customer or carrier are yours to check.

For scheduled and recurring work, see [Scheduling with Rex](/rex/schedule).
