Collaborating with your team on mobile

The mobile app gives you comment threads on projects and on individual photos, @mentions, an Activity inbox, and push notifications. Everything here is internal — comments, mentions, and reactions are visible to your company only, never to homeowners. For the company-wide picture, see Team collaboration.

1. Comment on a project

Every project has a discussion thread, separate from the AI chat. Tap the project activity button in the project header. Write a comment or reply to one — replies nest one level under the comment they answer — and the team sees the same thread on mobile and web. Use it for the conversation about the job (“adjuster meeting moved to 2pm”); the AI chat stays clean for the estimate.

2. Comment on a photo

In the photo viewer, tap the comment button — or the “N comments” row on the photo’s details — to open that photo’s thread: the question and the evidence in one place. Comments can be deleted by their author or by an admin.

3. @mentions

Type @ in any comment for an autocomplete of your teammates. A mention highlights their name and notifies them directly — it’s the one notification that always lands in the recipient’s inbox. Mention the person you need an answer from.

4. Emoji reactions

Tap the add-reaction button on any comment to react; reactions stack with counts. Photos take reactions too, right in the viewer — a fast, silent “these three shots are the keepers.”

5. The Activity inbox

The Activity icon at the bottom of the drawer is your inbox, with an unread badge. It holds every mention, reply, and comment aimed at you:
  • Switch between All and Unread, grouped by date.
  • Tap a notification to deep-link to the exact spot — the right thread or photo, scrolled to the comment and briefly highlighted.
  • Mark all read clears the badge.

6. Push notifications

With notification permission granted (see Getting started), activity reaches you when the app is closed: the push shows who and what, and tapping it opens the same deep link as the inbox. While you’re using the app, new activity arrives as an in-app banner instead of a system push — one surface at a time, never both.

7. Choose what notifies you, per channel

Settings → Notifications is a matrix of type × channel: Mentions always appear in your in-app inbox — the inbox is the system of record, so a direct mention can never silently vanish. A common setup: push for mentions and replies only, in-app for everything, email off.

8. Troubleshooting common issues

  • I’m not getting push notifications. Three switches must line up: notifications allowed for XBuild in your phone’s settings, the type enabled under Push in Settings → Notifications, and you signed in on that phone.
  • A teammate isn’t in the @mention list. Mentions draw from the project’s company — check they’re a member of the Location the project belongs to. See Members and roles.
  • My comment won’t post. Posting needs a connection — unlike photo capture, comments aren’t queued offline yet. Reconnect and send again.
  • Can the homeowner see any of this? No. Comments, mentions, and reactions never appear on share links, published proposals, or anywhere outside your company. See What your customer sees.
