Working with Locations

If your business runs more than one office or branch, XBuild models that with Locations. Your company is the account — one plan, one pool of member seats, one bill. Each Location under it is a self-contained workspace with its own team, projects, connectors, and settings. A single-office business already has one Location. The Locations table is in Business profile.

1. What’s company-wide and what’s per-Location

Nothing per-Location is inherited or synced. A new Location is a blank workspace, a change in one never touches another, and two Locations that need the same packages or pricing each get the setup recreated.

2. Switch between Locations

The Location switcher at the top of the navigation shows your current Location.
  1. Click the switcher.
  2. Under All locations, every Location you’re a member of is listed, with a check mark on the active one.
  3. Click a Location to switch.
Switching swaps the whole workspace — project list, settings pages, connectors, packages, and layouts. If something “disappeared,” check the switcher first. Locations you haven’t been added to don’t appear at all.

3. Add a Location

You must be an XBuild Administrator.
  1. Open the Location switcher and click Add new location (or use the Locations card in Settings → Business Profile).
  2. In the Add location dialog, enter the Name, Phone, Website, Primary trade, and address.
  3. Save. XBuild creates the Location, adds you to it, and switches you into it.
Names must be unique within your company, ignoring case — XBuild rejects a duplicate and asks for another. As the creator you get access automatically; nobody else does, including other admins, until they’re added. Set up the new Location while you’re in it: team first, then component packages, proposal layouts, connectors, and Pricing & Profit.

4. Control who works in each Location

Access is granted person by person, and access to one Location never implies access to another:
  • When inviting someone new, the Add to location field pre-assigns their Locations; they land in those teams on accepting. See Members and roles.
  • From a Location’s team, open Settings → Team with that Location active and click Add member to add any existing company member.
  • From the company roster, open Settings → Members, open the menu on a member’s row, and edit the member — the Locations multi-select adds and removes them across Locations in one place. This is the fastest way to fix your own access to a Location another admin created.
A person’s role is the same everywhere — you can’t be Admin in one Location and Member in another. To limit someone, limit which Locations they’re in.

5. Troubleshooting common issues

  • A Location doesn’t show up in my switcher. You’re not a member. Ask an admin with access to add you — from that Location’s Settings → Team, or from Settings → Members by editing your Locations.
  • My new Location has no packages, layouts, connectors, or team. Expected — Locations start empty and inherit nothing. Configure each area with the new Location active.
  • A connector I set up isn’t available on a project. Connectors are per Location, and the project belongs to one. Switch into the project’s Location and check Settings → Connectors there.
  • I got “A location named ’…’ already exists.” Names are unique per company, compared case-insensitively. Pick a distinct name.
  • Will a second Location cost more? Locations aren’t billed — plan and seats are company-wide. Adding people to more Locations doesn’t use extra seats; only bringing a brand-new person onto your plan does. See Member seats.
