Understand XBuild plans and annual billing
This article explains what each XBuild plan includes, how monthly and annual billing work, and what happens when you switch between plans or billing intervals. Every self-service plan can be billed monthly or annually — annual billing saves you 20% compared to paying month to month. Plans live in Billing, accessible from the main navigation or under Settings. All company members can view this page; only Administrators can change plans or billing intervals. The same plans and the same annual option are available in the XBuild mobile app’s Billing screen. Why two billing intervals
Every plan does the same job on either interval — same features, same member seats, same token allowance rate. The difference is how you pay and when you receive tokens:- Monthly — pay each month, receive that month’s tokens at each renewal.
- Annual — pay once per year at a 20% discount, and receive the entire year of tokens up front.
1. Open the Billing Tab
- Sign in to your XBuild account.
- Click Billing in the main navigation — or open Settings and click Billing under Company.
2. What every plan includes
Each plan card shows the plan’s price, its token allowance, its member-seat limit, and its feature list. Higher tiers include more tokens at a lower price per token, and more member seats.- Tokens power the AI — estimates, scopes, reports, and chat.
- Member seats determine how many people can sign in to your company. See Member seats.
- Enterprise is a custom plan for larger teams — custom token volume, unlimited seats, and a dedicated account manager. Enterprise plans are set up by our sales team and are annual billing only. Contact sales@x.build.
3. Choose monthly or annual billing
Each plan card has a Billed yearly toggle:- The toggle is on by default, so you see annual pricing first. Flipping the toggle on any card flips all cards together — you’re choosing one billing interval, not one per plan.
- With Billed yearly on, the headline price shows the per-month equivalent of the annual price, with a save 20% badge.
- The feature list follows your selection: with yearly on, token allowances show the annual total, because that’s what you receive up front.
- Click the plan’s button to subscribe or switch. The checkout uses whichever interval the toggle shows.
4. How annual plans work
- You’re charged once per year at the discounted annual price.
- Your full year of tokens is granted immediately and stays available until your annual renewal date — no monthly drip, no waiting.
- Member seats and features are identical to the monthly version of your plan.
- Your renewal date is shown on the Billing tab, one year from your start date.
5. Switching plans or intervals
What happens when you change depends on the direction of the change:- Upgrading to a higher plan (same interval): takes effect immediately. You’re charged the prorated difference and the additional tokens are added right away.
- Downgrading to a lower plan (same interval): takes effect at your next renewal. You keep your current plan’s benefits until then, and the plan cards show the scheduled change.
- Switching from monthly to annual: takes effect immediately. The monthly payment you already made is credited toward the annual charge, your new annual year starts that day, and you receive the full year of tokens right away. Any unused tokens from your monthly period stay available until their original expiration.
- Switching from annual to monthly: takes effect at your annual renewal — you prepaid the year, so you keep your annual plan and tokens until it ends. No mid-year refunds or credits; the plan cards show the scheduled change and monthly billing starts at renewal.
6. Troubleshooting Common Questions
- I switched to annual and was charged less than the annual price. That’s the credit for the monthly payment you already made — it’s deducted from the annual charge at checkout.
- I switched to monthly but I’m still on my annual plan. Switching to a shorter interval is scheduled for your annual renewal date. You keep your annual benefits until then — the plan card shows the scheduled change.
- Do I lose my remaining monthly tokens when I switch to annual? No. Unused tokens from your monthly period keep their original expiration date, on top of the full year you receive with the annual plan.
- I don’t see the Billed yearly toggle on a plan. The toggle appears on self-service plans that offer an annual price. Enterprise is annual-only and shows Yearly billing only instead of a toggle.
- I want to cancel an annual plan. Cancellation stops your renewal — you keep access and your remaining tokens through the end of the period you paid for.
